RE: Trouble w/ Constrained Delegation Virtual Server & SBS

The reason I chose this group is because SBS Premium uniquely runs ISA 2004
on the same box as the AD. ISA 2004 uniquely might be interfering this set
up and I want to get some knowledgeable feedback on this theory. The VS
group will not have this audience. Still I have researched this in the VS
community and am pursuing gaining help via blogs and newsgroup threads there.

Also the SBS community it uniquely placed in a market seeking to maximize
potential of software with minimum resources (as a generality). In other
words, configuring Virtual Server to store its large resource files on a
remote drive and save the space on the server drives is something that IMHO
is a higher appreciated commodity in SBS businesses. Targeting this audience
I am hoping that someone in this public (not private partner) newsgroup will
respond who has already realized this solution.

Due to the lack of general information on Constrained Delegation and UNC
pathing, I hope that spreading a web of inquiries, including this newsgroup,
will lead to a knowledgeable response.

Hi Dale,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

Based on the information you provided, it should be a VS issue. If you
would, please post this question in the virtual server newsgroup. The
reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most
qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the newsgroups
regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction
with us.

If you need quick help, you may need to contact CSS. Due to the complexity
of this issue, we are unable to assist with this request in newsgroup. To
save your time, you may need to contact CSS for better support.

A suggestion would be to contact Microsoft Product Support Services via
telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your
request. Please be advised that contacting phone support will be a charged
call. However, if you are simply requesting a hotfix be sent to you and no
other support then charges are usually refunded or waived.

To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a
look at the web site listed below.

| Over the past several days I've been trying to set up Virtual Server 2005
R2
| on a SBS 2003 Premium box so that the VHD, VMC, ..etc files can be
located
| and used from a network share (not on the server). The short of it is
that
| my patience is long gone and I need help. Anyone had any sucess sorting
this
| out?
|
| The Virtual Server 2005 instructions are confusing regarding constrained
| delegation/"installing Virtual Server on One Computer" but after much
| re-reading and interpretation of what I think was stated it still doesn't
| work. I've raised the domain functional level to Windows 2003, figured
out
| how to use the SETSPN command line tool to add the Service Principal
Name's
| per the VS instructions but yet still can't add a network share patch to
the
| Virtual Server's "search path". BTW during install I did specify to
| configure the Administration Website to always run as the Local System
| account.
|
| If you can help, your assistance is warmly welcomed.
