Hi Dave,

Thank you for posting here.

From your description, I understand internal users can not send mail to
cellphone@xxxxxxxx

In order to clarify this issue, please help me to collect the following
information.

1. What is the error message? please gather the info word for word.

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test

Sent: 7/5/2006 12:09 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

dave leon on 7/5/2006 12:09 AM

The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent
to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out
the correct address.

<leonlaw.com #5.1.1>

2. Does this issue occur on specific user or all users?

All users have this problem. They cannot email to an address that has the
leonlaw.com domain, unless such user is also an SBS2003 account user.

3. How did mobile user access your exchange server? Via OMA or ActiveSync?

The mobile user isn't accessing the network at all. He accesses his
leonlaw.com email by a WAP enabled phone, and it checks an email account
that is hosted by godaddy.com

4. If you create another mobile-enable user can you send email smoothly?

No, these are not SBS users, just users who have the same domain name but no
server accounts.

5. What is the version of mobile device?

THese are Motorola "Q" phones and use Windows MObil version 5

Baesd on my experience, we can perform the following checks to narrow down
this issue:
1. On the Exchange Features tab of the user account properties dialog,
ensure that all mobile services are set to Enabled.
In general, we should enable Mobile service on ESM, To do so:
Open Exchange Management System on your SBS server.
Locate Global Settings-Point to Mobile services, right click it and select
properties.
On general tab, ensure enable all mobile option.

Then, to ensure that mobile services are enabled for a user,
Open the Server Management console, click the Users link, and then
double-click the user account.
On the Exchange Features tab of the properties dialog box, ensure that all
mobile services are enabled.

2. Ensure that the device has Internet access by browsing to a Web site
from the device.
3. Some carriers require a SIM update to use data service. Check with your
mobile operator for any such requirements.
4. Ensure that the time and time zone is set properly on the device.
5. Some devices cache the IP address of DNS names. If your Windows SBS
server uses a dynamic IP address in conjunction with Internet services
such
as DynDNS.org, you may need to reset the device if your IP address
changes.

6. If you are using Smartphones, you may have to use a third-party
certificate from a trusted CA. Many Windows Mobile 5.0 powered Smartphone
devices cannot use self-signed certificates. However, all Pocket PC
devices are capable of adding self-signed certificates, so they can work
without third-party certificates.

7. Check for certificate-related problems.
8. Check the Application event log.
9. Check the firewall configuration.

Hope this helps, if you have any other concerns on this issue, please feel
free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)

| Ok, I have an email service through godaddy with my private domain. SBS
also
| uses the same domain. I have one mobile user that has an email address
with
| the same domain but no corresponding user in SBS. As such, when someone
from
| within the SBS domain tries to email that user, they get an error.
|
| To illustrate:
|
| SBS server's name is "Leonserver.LS.local" with a user name of "david"
|
| David has SBS check his email address "david@xxxxxxxx" and that maps to
the
| SBS user "david"'s exchange mailbox.
|
| Now, david has a cellphone with an email account "cellphone@xxxxxxxx"
|
| If the user "david" tries to send an email using outlook to
| "cellphone@xxxxxxxx" then "david" gets an error.
|
| Is there some way to address this
| ?
