RE: Solution: When Printing From A HP Printer paper comes out blank

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi David,

Thank you for sharing the solution with us! I believe it will benefit many
customers and I really appreciate your efforts!

Additionally I would provide some information about the Data Execution
Prevention so that all customers have a brief understanding about the
solution.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) helps prevent damage from viruses and other
security threats that attack by running (executing) malicious code from
memory locations that only Windows and other programs should use. This type
of threat causes damage by taking over one or more memory locations in use
by a program. Then it spreads and harms other programs, files, and even
your e-mail contacts.

TO use DEP, your computer must be running Microsoft Windows XP with Service
Pack 2 (SP2), Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1), or
an x64-based version of a Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP operating
system.

By default, DEP is only turned on for essential Windows operating system
programs and services. To help protect more programs with DEP, select Turn
on DEP for all programs and services except those I select. And by default,
in Windows Server 2003 SP1, DEP is turned on for all programs and services
except those that the administrator selects.

You can check the following articles to get more information about DEP:

The "Understanding Data Execution Prevention" help topic incorrectly states
the default setting for DEP in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1

Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, and Windows
Server 2003

Thank you again!

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Just to let you know that I have come across a problem today where by from
the server and workstations you couldn't print out to any of the HP Print
Devices. Each time you did the paper would come out blank. All of the
print
devices are attached to print servers. I tried different drivers/
configurations and still no avail.

The printers are shared from the SBS Server

Anyway found an article after much hunting on the internet where it says
to
change the DEP to "For essential windows programs and services only" I
then
restarted the server and all the printers then worked.

To do this; Right click on my computer, selected advanced, click settings
next to performance and then select the DEP tab.

I just thought I would post it just incase anyone comes across this
problem.
I think it has something to do with HP exe's when trying to print.
