Why not use both. I use USB drives as well as a tape backup. The USB drives
have several days backups which can be used to restore files, folders, etc
very quickly. The tape drive is used for archival purposes as well as
backups that are stored off site.

NO!
Use TAPE based backup.
Use Veritas BackupExec instead of the SBS Built-in Backup
(you can create a Disaster Recovery backup - ie. from bare metal)
Forget using USB HDD
a 36/72GB DAT Tape cost $20 - you can have one for each day
Its important to have MULTIPLE backups
There are imaging products that will make an exact copy.
Ghost 2003 is pretty good but its "Off-Line"
the newer versions are rubbish and won't work on Server.
Acronis True image which does LIVE image but is an option but its
expensive Veritas do LiveVault not cheap either

Hi,
A question about SBS 2003
Is it possible to create a backup system using software RAID1 and 3
hdd's 2 hdd's in the configuration and backing all the data onto the
third
at the
end of the day?
How can I implement this?
thanks in advance.
