RE: Group Polcy: in use by another application

Hi,

Thanks for posting here.

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: you want to use the GPO
to block Itunes application, but it doesn't work fine. If I am off base,
please feel free to let me know.

Based on current information, I am still a little unclear about the exact
nature of this issue. Please let me know whether you want to restrict the
Itunes application run on the client workstation, or you hope use the GPO
control Windows Firewall prevent the Itunes access the Internet.

If you want to restrict the Itunes application run on the client
workstation, you can via the software restriction policy settings in GPO to
reach it. To do so, please refer to the following knowledge base article:

How To Use Software Restriction Policies in Windows Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324036/en-us

If you want to prevent the Itunes application access the Internet via GPO,
then you need use the Windows Firewall setting in GPO to reach this goal.
Actually, To centralize the configuration of large numbers of computers in
an organization network that use the Active Directory? directory service,
Windows Firewall settings for computers running Windows XP with SP2 can be
deployed through Computer Configuration Group Policy.

When you configure Windows Firewall in an organization network using Group
Policy, some of the local Windows Firewall configuration options can be
grayed out and unavailable, even for local administrators.

For detail information, please refer the following technology article:

Note: please refer the following part in the above article:
Deploying Windows Firewall Settings with Group Policy
Step 2: Specifying Windows Firewall Settings for Your Group Policy Objects

I hope the above information helps.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,
