Thanks for the reply from both of you.
That confirms what I suspected. We are planning a TS2K3 deployment to
replace out tired old NT4TS w/Citrix.
Please tell me more about.... "and be powered on (there's a neat utility
from a third party which allows you to use WOL features to power this up)."
I could convince people I'm smart with this... maybe get a raise?.... HMMM..
Maybe not.

Remote Web Workplace has many facilities, but it seems you are interested,.
in this discussion, in only two of them:
'Connect to my computer at work' and
'Connect to Server Desktops' (only available for administrators)
and maybe 'Connect to Workstation Desktops' (also only available to admins)
There is another option IF you have a server operating in TS Applications
Mode 'Connect to my company's application server' which is available to
ordinary users.
The 'Connect to my computer at work' function allows a remote user to take
control of a PC at the office. The PC must run XP Pro, be a member of the
domain, and be powered on (there's a neat utility from a third party which
allows you to use WOL features to power this up).
The other two functions should not be available to users other than the
'administrator'.
Administration mode TS on the SBS is a different kettle of fish altogether.
It can be accessed from 'Connect to Server Desktops' but should only be
available to the domain administrators. As it is standard Windows Server
2003 'remote administration mode' TS it is limited to two simultaneous
sessions (3 if you use /console) and is designed purely for administration
purposes.
The number of users who can 'Connect to my computer at work' is limited
purely by the speed of your internet connection and availability of machines
for them to connect to. You need about 25Kbps upload speed per TS session.
Once you get above a few users it normally makes sense to implement an
Applications Mode Terminal Server. The same bandwidth per session is
required but many people can connect to the same box at the same time. TS
licenses must be purchased in addition to your SBS CALs.
Once you have a TS for this purpose it is then even easier, and more easily
justifiable, to run the local workstations as TS clients, lowering
administration.

Curious.
We are running SBS2K3 with RWW, with 30+- users.
How many users would be able to all access their desktops through their
home
internet access should the need arise. (i.e. snowed out, pandemic,
whatever)
I noticed the TS Licensing states "Remote Desktop in Administration Mode".
Is there a limitation within SBS as to the amount of users for Remote
Desktop, or even OWA, for that matter?
I realize my bandwith would scream at me, not to mention the server, but
I'm
curious.
Thanks in advance....
Denis
