Any application which can be setup as an "administrative install" to the clientapps folder can be setup to be deployed.
The applications then show up as available either when setup new computers or you can assign after the fact to one or more computers
I thought the wizard was pretty self explanatory

Let me first say that I am fairly new to the Small Business 2003 Server and
have not yet completely finished the install.
I have not been able to get the Assign Applications Wizard to work on
anything. It apears it has worked with the default applications as they
appear installed on my freshly installed XP Pro workstation. Beyond that I
can't seem to get anything else to install.
So what is the purpose of this? I have searched the web and can not find
anything in detail about it. Every thing I have found is the same thing and
just says this can be used to install applications. Nothing more than the
generic examples for XP Office.
What was Microsofts intent for this? I have found other websites that state
you can use the GPO to install applications that work with MSIEXEC. So I am
not sure what the best method is for installing applications on workstations.
Let alone I not found any examples yet to show me how to install an
applications using the GPO.
Questions:
1. Does the Assign Applications Wizard use MSIEXEC?
2. Is it something seperate? If so, whats the difference between it and
MSIEXEC?
3. Does anyone have any detailed documentation on these two processes?
4. What do others use?
5. What would I use one method over the other? Should one Mix and Match
and why?
My intent is to be able to install software on workstations with out having
to touch each PC in the office. My understanding is that I should be able to
do this.
Any help any of you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Also can any
share some information on why I should purchase WinInstallLE or something
like it?
Thanks in advance.
