Hello Brian,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you encounter following two issues:
a. Error message "Access is Denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or
write protected".
b. One client experiences slow log on issue.
If I have misunderstood your issues, please let me know.
In order to supplement your description, I need your help to gather the
following information:
=============================================
For your first issue:
1. Please explain in detail "The first is that some files/directories on my
SBS are not acccessible from the Administrator login on the console".
a. I strongly suggest that you fully describe your steps so we can
reproduce your issue.
b. I also suggest that you capture a screen shot for the error message so
we can have a clearer image of your issue.
2. Does this issue occurs to all domain clients or only certain?
3. If you change another computer, will this issue occur?
4. Does this issue occur in LAN or from the Internet?
5. Do you have ISA Server installed? If yes, is it ISA 2K or ISA 2K4?
=============================================
For your second issue:
1. I need to double confirm with you "I have one client computer that takes
forever for its user to logon. I am talking up to 30 minutes". Do you mean
it takes you 30 mins to log on domain?
2. During the domain log on, at which exact log on step the process is
slow? For example, apply personal setting, apply networking setting?
3. Does this issue occur in LAN or from the Internet (for example, VPN
access Domain)?
4. If you ask the problematic client to log on another computer, will this
issue occur?
5. If you ask a good client to log on the problematic computer, will this
issue occur?
6. When did the issue occur? Did you experience this issue before?
7. If you start the problematic computer into the Safe Mode, will you
experience this issue again?
8. I have read through the IP configurations, and I noticed that you
configure Default Gateway on the Internal NIC of SBS. Actually, we leave it
blank on the internal NIC. Please see the TCP/IP configuration template
below:
On SBS server:
External NIC:
IP: assigned by your ISP or your hardware router
Gateway: your ISP or your Hardware router IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
Internal NIC:
IP: Fixed IP
Gateway: None
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
On workstation:
IP: Assigned by DHCP on SBS
Gateway: SBS internal NIC IP
DNS: SBS INTERNAL NIC IP as the only entry
So I suggest that you rerun the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection
Wizard to see how it goes. Please following KB 825763 for detail steps:
825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
Please take your time to gather the information for research and I am
looking forward to your reply!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee
