Steven;
In my previous post, I did following;
Confirmed all workstations browser reg keys set to no
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\IsDo
mainMaster
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\Main
tainServerList
Confirmed internet access settings (KB825763).
Performed the steps shown in KB292822
Rebooted the SBS Server.
A few interesting notes:
I wanted to confirm one of the workstations browser settings (workstation
running W2K), so I ran browstat status. The browstat process locked up. I
could not even kill it with task manager. As a matter of fact, the Task
Manager process used to kill the process also stopped responding. When I
forced a power down and rebooted, that workstation set it's master browser to
one of the XP Pro workstations. At that point in time, the SBS server then
started reporting some of the workstations in the browser. I changed the
offending workstation's browser reg keys ( and confirmed all workstation
browser reg keys).
There is a W2K server on the network that is managing a SQL server
application (the application in question won't support running on a DC, hence
my reluctance to move the DC). Out of curiosity, I ran browstat to confirm
it's status. I then noticed events 213 & 61, so I rebooted the server (it
was up when the SBS server rebooted). The events 213 & 61 stopped being
logged. I then ran browstat to check things out, and it has locked up. (I
can't force the reboot as I don't have physical access until Monday a.m).
( Event ID: 213
Source: License Manager
Description: Replication of license information failed because the
license logging service on server <servername> could not be contacted.)
(Event ID: 61
Description: WMI ADAP was unable to process the file name performance
library due to a time violation in the open function)
One other interesting note to bring to your attention, all computers (with
the exception of the SBS server, have the following browstat report
Status for domain WETOSKA on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7227F0CD-DCDC-4A51-B200-DA684CB0661A}
Browsing is active on domain.
Master name cannot be determined from GetAdapterStatus. Using
\\WPDFSERVER
Master browser is running build 3790
1 backup servers retrieved from master WPDFSERVER
\\WPDFSERVER
There are 1 servers in domain WETOSKA on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7227F0CD-DCDC-4A51-B200-DA684CB0661A}
There are 1 domains in domain WETOSKA on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{7227F0CD-DCDC-4A51-B200-DA684CB0661A}
In the WINS records, everything seems ok with two questions. The w2k server
is registering a domain controller record for INet~~Services (1Ch)
On the SBS Server, I can't run the Windows firewall, receive a message
Windows Firewall cannot run because another progroam or service is running
that might use network address translation component (ipnat.sys).
Is any of this helpful?
