RE: Can't see W2K computers when browsing

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply.

From your description, I understand that you find the events 213 & 61 in
Event Viewer, but I believe these events didn't relate with the browser
list issue.

Please understand that this issue is very complex, and the browser list
issue may cause by multiple root problem. Now to troubleshoot the issue,
let's take the following procedure to try some suggestions and gather some
necessary information:

(1). Disable any anti-virus software
If there's any anti-virus software on the servers, please temporarily
disable it. We've seen cases that anti-virus software could cause browsing
problem.

(2). Make sure NetBIOS over TCP/IP has been enabled on all computers.
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties -> Advanced -> WINS -> Enable NetBIOS
over TCP/IP

(3). Remove extra NIC if there is any.
Multihomed (means having more than one NIC) PDC emulator (or WINS server)
can cause browsing problem. Please disable and remove the extra NICs

(4). Browstat
Please run "browstat status >c:\browstat.txt" in command prompt on one of
the servers. Send me the file c:\browstat.txt. Please also let me know the
name of the PDC emulator and other servers' names.

NOTE: Browstat is included in the Support Tools for Windows Server 2003.
You can install it from the SUPPORT\TOOLS folder in the Windows 2003 Server
CD. After installing it, click Start, All Programs, Windows Support Tools
and click Command Prompt. From here you can use the tool Browstat.

MPS_Report tool on the SBS DC.

(6). Please let me know whether you only cannot see Windows 2000
workstation in network neighbor, can you see Windows XP workstation in
network neighbor?

Send the above files to me at v-stezhu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the subject of
this post.

Please let me know the above results and information so that I can provide
further assistance on this problem. If you have any other questions or
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. It is always our pleasure

Thanks and have a great day.
