RE: email queue - The remote server did not respond to a connection..

Hi Bjom,

Thank you for posting here again!

According to your description, I understand that the messages remain in the
queue. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know. Based on
my experience, it seems the remote domain is not available.

Before we go any further, I would like to confirm the following information
with you:

1. Please let me know which queue the messages are queued. You can refer to
the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to check this information.

823489 How to use Queue Viewer to troubleshoot mail flow issues in Exchange
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=823489

2. Please let me know if you cannot send emails to all SMTP domains or just
some specific domains.

3 Based on my experience, it seems the remote domain is not available.
Please use nslookup utility to verify the DNS resolution:

1). Open a command prompt.
2). Type the following:

"nslookup" (without the quotation marks)

3). Type the following:

"set q=mx" (without the quotation marks) This sets a filter to only
collect Internet Mail Exchanger (MX) records and related information.

4). Type the following:

"<domain_name>" (without the quotation marks)

Where <domain_name> is the problematic destination domain.

4. Use telnet utility connecting to the problematic destination server and
send a test mail to the problematic recipient again. Does it work? Can the
recipient receive the test mail?

For more information, please refer to the following article:

XFOR: Telnet to Port 25 of IMC to Test IMC Communication:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=153119

4. Enable Diagnostics Logging on the Exchange server.

1). Start Exchange System Manager.
2). Expand "Servers", right-click "<Your_ Server_Name>", and then click
"Properties".
3). Click the "Diagnostics Logging" tab, and then click
"MSExchangeTransport" under "Services".
4). Under "Categories", select all options, and set the Logging Level to
Maximum.
5). Reproduce the problem, after the problem occurs, save the Application
and System log files as .evt files and send them to me at
v-chacez@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Let me know the recipients and sender's email
addresses.

Please check the above information and let me know the results. If you have
any questions on it, feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)
