take a step back. Re-installation should not be considered except in the
most extreme cases, where something fundamental is wrong. The system has
been operating for a couple of years, if it's still operational we should be
able to fix the problems.
What's wrong with her?

Hi All,
I have inherited and supporting a sbs 2003 premium server installation
with
10 clients, and having a lot of problems with it, and so I'm resorting to
a
total re-install.
Now here is where the problems lies, I'm a complete newbie, give me a pc
to
rebuild - no problem. The sbs 2003 is an OEM installation over 2.5 years
old,
and I have been asked by my director to sort out the problems.
1. Is there a way for me to collect current server setup to be used in the
re-installation process? If not any pointer on carrying out a clean and
secure installation of sbs 2003, are there any website that guide you
through
the installation/setup and configuration stages.
2. How easy is it to transfer emails in ms exchange to new installation.
3. As part of the re-installation, the director have also asked me to
consider:
a) Communication between the head office and factory (250 miles apart),
and only one pc at the factory site. The director wants that person to be
able to access the head office server to view their emails as well as
access
a specified location on the server. What do I need to have setup/installed
to
achieve this?
b) Want our sales staff, when they are on the road to access their email
accounts via Internet, what do I need to have setup/installed to achieve
this.
As you can see I don't want to jump in at the deep end without the
necessary
information and it would be a great learning experience if I could do
this.
Any pointers or guidance would be appreciated.
Kind regards
.
