Re: SBS SMTP Connector Drop Connection Issue

I have been doing a lot of debugging and I have swapped emails with a
couple folks in the CRM team. Here is what is happening:

The Send Mail dialog in the CRM Web Client is encoding the MIME HTML
with bare linefeed (LF's) instead of the full CRLF (carriage return
line feeds). Many SMTP servers (non-Exchange, which are most ISP's)
drop the connection when they see a bare LF in the DATA section. The
message then gets stuck in the queue.

If I trap the message in the queue and replace the LF with CRLF, the
message goes through. Apparently it is a CDO component in CRM that is
saving the message with the bare LF's.

I find it hard to believe that I am the first one to find this problem
- although you can find all sorts of references and a MIcrosoft KB
article to a similar problem (a SMTP message must be terminated with a
proper CRLF.CRLF) or it will prematurely get cut off during
transmission.

Let me know if you can find any workarounds to the bare line feed SMTP
connector issue....I am still communicating with my Microsoft contact.

2. Based on my research, the event error 4006 may happen when Sybari
Antigen or Symantec/Norton Corporate 9 Internet Email Auto Protect. If you
have this application or similar products installed in Exchange Server,
please temporarily uninstall it and verify the issue. If it persists,
please continue with next step.

3, The issue may happen when the smarthost in Exchange Server points to a
wrong or non-existing server, please verify the setting by the steps below.

4. Use telnet utility connecting to the problematic destination server and
send a test mail to the problematic recipient again. Does it work? Can the
recipient receive the test mail? Send the test results to me.

5. Enable Diagnostics Logging on the Exchange server.

1). Start Exchange System Manager.
2). Expand "Servers", right-click "<Your_ Server_Name>", and then click
"Properties".
3). Click the "Diagnostics Logging" tab, and then click
"MSExchangeTransport" under "Services".
4). Under "Categories", select all options, and set the Logging Level to
Maximum.
5). Reproduce the problem, after the problem occurs, save the Application
and System log files as .evt files and send them to me at
v-chacez@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Let me know the recipients and sender's email
addresses.
