Hi Brandy,
It looks like this worked fine (it's currently displaying upgrading
sharepoint site may take a few hours depending on size of site etc etc).
thanks in advance very much, will get back if it doesn't work.
question though, was I missing a step or was the KB wrong?
why didn't it work before?
Cheers,
Dean

Hello Dean,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I understand that you encounter error message described in KB 894903 and
you cannot run the stsadm.exe command to force the virtual server update.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
The Stsadmin.exe utility is located in the program folder. I have
performed
a test on my test machine and the issue was success. Please see my steps
below:
On the SBS Server, open a command window, type the following command:
Cd \program files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server
extensions\60\BIN
Press Enter and continue typing following command:
stsadm.exe -o upgrade -forceupgrade -url http://companyweb
[NOTE]: There is NO space between "-" and "forceuprade". Please copy and
paste the command exactly and run.
Press Enter.
If the issue persists, please try Mark's suggest to temporarily switch to
.Net FrameWork to 1.1 and see how it goes:
a. Open Internet Information Services\Domain (Local Computer)\Web Sites.
b. Right click Companyweb and go to Properties.
c. On the ASP.NET tab, switch the ASP.NET version from 2.0.50727 to
1.1.4322.
d. Click OK.
e. Open a command window, type "iisreset" (without quotation marks).
f. Test the issue again.
Pleas take your time to perform the steps. If you have any further
updates,
please feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to your reply!
Best regards,
Brandy Nee

I had to reinstall my company sbs from scratch last weekend and
foris pretty much back to normal except for the company web
when I type http://companyweb I get the following error
This Windows SharePoint Services virtual server has not been configured
use with ASP.NET 2.0.50727.42. For more information, please refer to
Knowledge Base article 894903 at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=42660.
When I go to this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894903
it advises me to type in the follwing stsadm.exe -o
upgrade -forceupgrade -url http://URLOftheVirtualServer
of course being microsoft this error comes up
stsadm.exe -o upgrade -forceupgrade -url http://cognationsvr1'stsadm.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Anyone know what I need to do next?
