Re: Trying to get SBS server connect using PPPOE directly using DSL mo

SBS just does not handle PPPoE...
Get a Linksys or Netgear or DLink Router capable of PPPoE

Then just put your NIC on a static IP to match the LAN side of the router (there is a Change SErver IP wizard in the SBS Managment Console -Internet and Email Section)

The re-run the wizard and choose Full Time Broadband Connection to the Internet (not the one which mentions the router)

I have an SBS server trying to logon using PPPOE to my DSL provider. The SBS
server is connected directly to the DSL modem.

I use the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard with the following
settings:
1. Broadband
2. Connection that requires username/password (PPPOE)
3. I created a new connection with my username and password. Dynamic IP.
4. Under Connection Name, I only have one to choose from in the drop down
(Network Connection), I select DHCP.

At this point, when I click Next, I get the following error:
"The wizard is unable to configure the network connection to your ISP.
Ensure that the cable for the network adapter is working properly..."

And yes, I have the network cable connected properly from the server to the
DSL modem.

What am I missing? Any help appreciated. Thanks!
