RE: SBS SMTP Connector Drop Connection Issue

Hi,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that you would like to
implement Exchange Server 2003.

To configure this, the simplest way for us is to run CEICW wizard on Small
Business Server. This wizard is specially designed for SBS and helps you
configure the internet access, firewall and email settings of the server.
Since your user could access the internet well, the Internet access and
firewall part should be fine. More information:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

For the email part, let me explain it to you in detail:

1. Run the CEICW and go through the Internet and firewall option
2. In the Internet E-mail tab, please click to "Enable Internet E-mail"
3. In the Email Delivery method page, please choose the correct email
delivery method.
For outgoing messages, by default there are two options for you:

- Use your own SMTP service and DNS to deliver messages to the remote
server directly.

- Use your own SMTP service to forward messages to a relay server (some
ISPs may provide this service), which then queries DNS and deliver messages
for you.
.. If you need to forward internet email to your ISP Smarthost, please input
the Smarthost address correctly. If you use DNS to route emails, please
choose this option.
4. Input the correct information in the rest page and finish the wizard.
Note: you could just leave the option unchanged, since your Exchange could
receive internet emails fine.

Using POP3 connector, it is possible for us to configure Exchange server to
retrieve messages from external to Exchange mailboxes individually.

Note though above article discusses how to troubleshoot pop3 connector,
it's very useful to understand the component of Small Business Server.

Hope this helps, if you have any other concerns or need more help, just
feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day!
