Re: Contact list in Send FAX Wizard

Thanks Crina - It was Step 11 that I was missing. The only problem is
that you can't enter a new contact into the ContactsPF folder from the
Send Fax Wizard, only from Outlook.

Our people were using J2 FAX (an onlune fax solution) untill I
installed SBS and they are complaining about all the steps they have
to go through to send a fax. Do you know of any inexpensive third
party solutions that might offer a little more conveniance?

Thanks again for your help - Bob

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your update.

I am sorry for misunderstanding your concerns. As I know, for achieving
your goal, you may need to follow the steps:

NOTE: The test is performed on a Windows XP computer with Office XP
installed.

1. At a client computer with Shared Fax Service client installed.
2. Open Outlook, expand to Public Folders\All Public Folders.
3. Right click on All Public Folders and choose New->Folder.
4. Name the folder as ContactsPF, choose "Contact Items" in the "Folder
contains" drop-down list. Click OK.
5. In the ContactsPF folder, create a new contact named Test. Specify its
fax number in the "Business Fax" field.
6. Click Start->Printers and Faxes. Double click on the SharedFax icon to
bring up the Fax Console.
7. Click File->Send a Fax.
8. Click the "Address Book" button. Click the drop-down list and you should
see the ContactsPF item is listed under "Outlook Address Book".
9. You can select ContactsPF and then select the Test contact to send a fax.
10. On another computer logged on with another user account, open Outlook.
Right click the ContactsPF folder and choose Properties.
11. Click the Outlook Address Book tab and then click to check "Show this
folder as an e-mail Address Book". Click OK.
12. Repeat step 6 through 9 and you should be able to send fax to the Test
account.

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Crina Li (MSFT)

| Hi Crina,
|
| Thank you for your reply, I always seem to run into a brick wall
| problem on Friday.
|
| I am able to create a personal contact list and use it in the Send Fax
| Wizard. My problem is adding to one of the Global contact lists so
| that everybody can use it. I know that this is probably a simple
| procedure but I just don't know were I go to do that.
