Hi Alex,
Thanks for posting here.
From your post, my understanding on this issue is: when you open a sharefolder with 400 zip files, it opens slowly. If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please feel free to let me know.
Based on my experience, Actually, we can install NetBeui protocol in
Windows Server 2003. For your reference, I will include the steps in the
latter of the post.
Before we go any further, please let me know the following information:
1. Does the issue now appear when you open share folders from Windows 2003
computer?
2. Which operating system the File Server is using on which the Share
folder exists?
3. Does the problem appear on all the Windows Server 2003 computers?
Currently, I suggest you do the following:
1. Open My computers, click Tools ->Folder Options, select "Use Windows
Classic Folders" and click OK.
2. Go to Services.msc console, locate the Webclient Services, open the
service properties, click to stop the service and select Disable in Start
Type.
3. Then check if there is an update.
If problem still exists, please restart computer, press F8 and select Safe
mode with networking. Then please check if there is an update on the slow
opens share folder issue.
Also, this problem is irrelevant to the firewall software. So, disabling
the firewall software cannot help us narrow down this problem. However, the
anti-virus software may be involved as a slow performance could occur if
the anti-virus software was configured to scan the network drive.
Additional Information:
Install NetBEUI on Windows Server 2003
--------------------------------------
The files necessary to install the NetBEUI protocol on a Windows XP
installation CD are Netnbf.inf and Nbf.sys. To install NetBEUI, follow
these steps:
1. Insert your Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM into your computer''s CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM drive, and then navigate to Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI.
2. Copy Nbf.sys to %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Drivers.
3. Copy Netnbf.inf to %SYSTEMROOT%\Inf (a hidden directory).
4. Click Start, point to Settings, click "Control Panel", and then
double-click "Network Connections".
5. Right-click the adapter that you want to add NetBEUI to, and then click
Properties.
6. On the General tab, click Install.
7. Click Protocol, and then click Add.
8. Click to select "NetBEUI Protocol" in the list, and then click OK.
9. Restart your computer if you receive a message to complete the
installation.
The NetBEUI protocol should now be installed and functional.
NOTE: %SYSTEMROOT% is a Windows environment variable that identifies the
directory in which Windows Server 2003 is installed (for example,
C:\Windows). To view the value associated with %SYSTEMROOT% (as well as
other environment variables) at a command prompt, type "set" (without the
quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

I hope the above information helps.
Have a nice day.

Steven Zhu
