Re: Re-issue Certificates (quick question)

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

The device is a T-mobile SDA Smartphone running WM 5.0.

The CA is self issued.

I haven't requested a new certificate yet but I'm sure it will work.

I'm having problems with Activesync and have reset the device several times
(each time I reset it erases everything including user certificates) I would
prefer not to have 20 separate certificates issued by the time I get this
device up and running, so that's why I was hoping for a way to redirect the
devices new certificate requests to already generated certificates.

Thank you,
John

Hi John,

Thanks you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

From the description, do you mean you have reset a device and lose the
user
certificate and you want to know if you can reissue the same certificate
to
the device or you need to revoke the old one and issue a new certificate?

To narrow down the problem, would you please help me collect the following
information?

1. What device it is.
2. What kind of CA you are using?
3. Does it work if you request a new certificate?

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Crina Li (MSFT)

| So to clarify, The CA can not re-issue the certificate for the same user
on
| the same device. A new certificate must be requested and issued, and the
| previous one is now useless.
