RE: DHCP Server service fails to start

I have now solved the puzzle, having looked at all services, shutting them
off, changing NICS, setting up static IP's, etc (none of which worked). I
then looked at the last Windows Updates installed prior to the problem. I
uninstalled the latest offering from Microsoft (incidently we are running
SP2), rebooted and all started working. I will post back with the actual
update.

Hi Tami, thanks for the reply..
I have spoken to our ISP, who subsequently supplied and manage the router
and they claim that nothing has changed. All systems were okay yesterday and
nothing new has been added or removed. Our SBS 2003 Server is DNS, DHCP and
Gateway, it is a 2 x NIC Server.
I understand Com+ Event System service is dependant on the Remote Procedure
Call service, so perhaps that is playing up? or the DHCP allocator in RRAS?
Any thoughts from anyone?
Thanks

Any ne devices on your network that may be acting as a DHCP server....???
What changed recently???
How Many NICs??
Could it be detecting a DHCP server from your ISP??

Today our network failed seemingly due to a DHCP error/network error. Users
couldn't access the Server or Internet. On further investigation it looks as
though the Com+ Event System service hangs preventing other services from
starting up, ie DHCP Server. Com+ Event System service
properties/Dependancies is unaccessible saying "W32: Access is dedied". I can
no longer see the LAN icons in System tray and IPconfig /All shows all
correct info as before. I have rebooted a couple of times now.
I have tried to restart the Com+ Event System service, but am at a loss as
to how to get it going. Our network has been down all day now and users are
unable to work. Any answers?
Thanks
