Re: WSUS SP1

I have separate GPOs set up for servers and workstations. Workstations auto
download and install, servers auto download and notify. I then manually
install updates on the servers as fits my schedule. I usually do them on
the Saturday after patch Tuesday, by which time I would expect to have heard
about any major issues. I like the idea of waiting a few days, but I never
wait long, especially for the SBS. My other servers are pretty well
isolated behind the SBS, but I want that server to be up to date on anything
security-related.

If you look at the tens or hundreds of thousands of people who have
installed SBS SP1, compared to the few who have had issues, I think it's
clearly less risky to install updates than to attempt to do without them.
Not only in relation to SBS, I think this of all MS patches - there have
been fewer issues, and less all the time, not to mention that they support
them for free.

Currently, the only updates I don't have approved in WSUS relate to products
I don't have installed - IE7, 64 bit, etc.

That seemed to be the problem. Once I changed the setting to include
Windows Server 2003 files, it downloaded. I still had to go find WSUS SP1
and tell it to install, but at least it was there.

What do I do with the Windows Server 2003 updates that it wants me to
install? I have been afraid of those give what happened a year or so back
when SP1 for 2003 Server came out.

Could it have to do with what products I have it looking for. I do not
have Windows Server 2003 selected. I do have SBS 2003 selected though.

I can only suggest manually telling WSUS to sync, see if it syncs
successfully, possibly after first going into the download types and
modifying it first NOT to do SP's, then back to do so.

Are you sure it didn't download itself, approve itself, and install?
One of the auto-approve options is to automatically approve WSUS
updates, and that might be enabled by default.

What's your build number on the bottom of the WSUS home page? SP1 is
2.0.0.2620.

I'd assume selecting SPs would include this one, but I'm not sure.
I've got everything enabled except drivers.

I did not see it this time. Does anyone have an update on whether
it is going to be released as an update through WSUS, or will I
