Hi Erik,
Thanks for your update.
From your reply, it is difficult to determine the root cause of the issue.Would you please help me collect the following information?
1. Does the situation occur if you access other files? For example: TXT.
2. Does the situation occur on other shared folder?
3. Have you tried all the suggestions of my previous reply? Especially
perform a clean boot on SBS and client computer.
4. To narrow down if it is client issue or user account issue, I also
recommend you perform the tests I have mentioned and it will not affect the
good users and PCS.
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)

| 1. How do the users access the word files?
| Via a network drive mapping (ie G: = \\server\sharedfolder)
|
| 2. Are the files stored on the server and they access them from
| workstations?
| Yes they are stored on a Network Drive and the workstations access
| them.
|
| 3. Do you mean these users can access and save files after a
| reboot?
| The users Office is no longer locked up after a reboot. This tends to
| happen after the user has been on for 9+ Hours.
|
| 4. Does the situation occur if these users logon to other good PC?
|
| We do not have spare PCs to test this on nor do we have the
| availability to have someone lose their PC for this test.
|
| 5. Does the situation occur if good users logon to the problematic
| PC?
| We do not have spare PCs to test this on nor do we have the
| availability to have someone lose their PC for this test.
|
| 6. Are there any errors in Event Log? I have not had the time to
| check the logs on the users PC. On the server side all is well.
|
| The SBS2003 is fully updated as are the Windows XP boxes. They are
| Running Office 2003 with the newest SP on them.
|
| I hope this information is helpful.
