I checked the original Dell documentation and the tape drive is listed as:
TAPE, MAGNETIC, 20/40GB, Travan 40, V2
so it is capable of backing up to 40GB presumably using compression, but
looking at the error log it appears that once the C: and D: drive backup
hits 20GB (4GB on C and 16GB on D) it aborts, presumably looking for a
second tape to be inserted?
Is there a way to get round this and force the backup to use the Travan tape
in compressed mode and thus have 40GB available? Or is there something else
going on.
I notice that the Exchange logs folder is getting huge 1500 plus files at
5MB each, can these be deleted manually or does it have to be done as part
of the backup process?
