RE: Unable to send any faxes

Hi Mario,

Thanks for posting here.

From you post, my understanding on this issue is: you cannot send any faxes
through your fax device. If I am off base, please feel free to let me know.

Based on the information I have now, Please help me collect the following
information in order to narrow down this issue:

1. If the fax is sent from the client computer or from the SBS Server. To
make thins clear, I suggest that we send fax from the SBS Server for test.

2. How did you send fax? By Outlook application?

I suggest that we do the following:

1. Go to Control Panel\Phone and Modem Options.
2. Under Dialing Rules, select the location and click EDIT button.
3. Go to Calling Card tab, select NONE in Card Types.
4. Go to Area Code Rules tab, remove all the area code rules.
5. Go to General tab, make sure that you configure the rule correctly.

Then click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Fax ->
Send a Fax. Follow the wizard to configure the fax, then in Send Fax
Wizard, manually select the country code, type the area code and the fax
number. Please note that do not enable the option of "Use Dialing Rules",
then check to see if the fax is sent correctly.

If the issue still exists, I suggest that you use this modem as an internet
dialup modem, dialup to internet to see if this device can dial 9 for
outgoing and if it dials 1 before 9. If the issue still exists while
setting this modem as a dialup modem, because no dialing rule is configured
now, I think it is a Modem related issue and please replace a modem to have
a test.

If you can send the fax based on the steps above while not using dialing
rule, I think one of the rules is the problem. I suggest that you manually
create the rule from "Phone and Modem Options", then send fax by the Send
Fax Wizard to see if it helps.

If it works, then, let's start sending fax from Outlook and please press
Ctrl+Shift+D to make sure that you configured the dialing options correctly.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to post back.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Steven Zhu
