Re: Help setting up tzo dynamic dns with verizon dsl

May be a little late on the responce.

I would send an email to support@xxxxxxx and they can walk you through
it or explain what is happening.

Most Linksys routers have TZO built into them. An issue may be that
you are natted or behind another router and therefore getting the
internal IP address.

You could prove this by going to www.tzo.com and installing the
software client which willl run as a system service, the software
version does not use the harware IP address therefore your WAN IP
address will be posted.

Plese help,

Network: SBS 2003 Premium Edition with ISA Server 2004 Service Pack 1
Verizon DSL Dynamic IP Account
Westell 6100 Modem
Linksys WRT54G Version 2 router.

I have spent the last 2 days trying to setup the TZO Dynamic DNS
Service using my verizon dsl account. I can connect to the Internet,
but I can seem to configure the DSL Modem (Westell 6100) to display a
valid public address.

It keeps showing the same private addres as my Internet address
192.168.1.147. Can anybody help me with this?

Everything works fine on the Internal Network.

Verizon Tech Support was a waste of time. They didn't have a clue
about how to do this.

Any suggestions will be welcomed

What is it you're trying to do, exactly? I use a dynamic DNS service
myself...and I use DirectUpdate software to keep my hostname & IP address
properly in sync. There are plenty of similar products out there. You
shouldn't need to do anything with your DSL modem - you just need something
on your internal network that will update your TZO account. I haven't had
such great luck with using the update features in consumer-grade firewall
appliances/routers; I prefer software I run on my server, as a service - but
the Linksys should have the update option if you want to try it.

www.whatismyip.com is handy
