I really don't think you are going to accomplish this without making it part of the domain

I have this topology:
ISP -> Modem/Router -> NIC1 -> SBS 2003 with ISA -> NIC2 -> Switch ->
Internal Client with XP Pro
>From the Modem/Router I also have an external "client" where I have a
tri-boot computer with a couple distros of Linux and XP. For reasons
that I'll exclude from this article, I'd like to keep this box outside
the SBS network.
I would like to run Synergy (a program that allows me to share the
mouse and keyboard between multiple computer/monitors [not a KVM])
across these computers.
I can successfully run Synergy when I setup the Linux box as the server
and the Internal XP Pro client as the client... but alas I would really
like the XP Pro box as the server because I also use the mouse/keyboard
for a KVM inside the SBS network. Unfortunately I cannot get the client
to connect to the server this way. I published the IP address of the
XP Pro server with the corresponding port within ISA but to no avail.
I continue to get the "failed to connect to server: Timed out"
message... which makes me think it is a firewall issue. I can ping the
external Linux box from the internal XP Pro box, but not vica versa...
but this I understand since ICMP requests are denied - but if I
published the server and created a rule for the port I need ICMP
request shouldn't matter right?
I've run out of ideas... I know there are other solutions by
re-orientating my setup that would work, but does anyone have any ideas
on how to make THIS setup work? Thanks!
