all I can say is I hope you have malpractice insurance when your clients get audited if thats what your telling them
The following is a direct copy and paste from the Microsoft Licensing Product Use Rights Documents found at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/5/f/a5fc3270-2fe6-4536-b228-6b333ab8569d/PUR_Apr2006.doc#TOC
I) Assigning the License to the Server.
a) Before you run any instance of the server software under a software license, you must assign that license to one of your servers. That server is the licensed server for that particular license. You may assign other software licenses to the same server, but you may not assign the same license to more than one server. A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate server.
b) You may reassign a software license, but not on a short-term basis (i.e., not within 90 days of the last assignment). You may reassign a software license sooner if you retire the licensed server due to permanent hardware failure. If you reassign a license, the server to which you reassign the license becomes the new licensed server for that license.
II) Running Instances of the Server Software. For each software license you assign, you may run, at any one time, one instance of the server software in one physical or virtual operating system environment on the licensed server.

Ive run two SBS boxes on the same network, its called "you bugger slash and
burn migration" thats my technical term for cut'n'paste. The only problem is
that of DOMAIN and DHCP, the second SBS to boot will see the first (in my
case they even had the same NAME) and certain critical functions will not
start, revolving around the authoritive DOMAIN controller and DHCP God
powers.
I would argue that both instances of SBS could not coexist in a functional
form and therefore the license oolyboolaa thingyamejig did not apply.
In summary you can have as many copies of the CD or installs as you like as
long as you only have 1 functional Server (this is whats said earlier). Ive
not read the EULA, but any sound judge would easily conclude in logic that a
copy of the CD and a non operating hot or cold Server are pretty much the
same. No doubt the argument would revolve around what consitutes a
functional server (ahem).
