Re: OWA Problem

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Ed,

It is working for me though, as I do get the login script. Try with https
and of course, try it from outside the network.

Hi,

Thanks for you update..

Sure, you can publish you OWA, OMA in none ISA scenario.

As you mentioned, you did not access OWA from external, can you tell
me
the
error message in IE browser word for word.

How did you publish your OWA?
We should confirm that you have run CEICW to configure your server
internet
connection. In the configuration of CEICW, you should select to
Enable
Firewall and publish your OWA to internet.
To do so:

I strongly recommend that we re-run the CEICW and go through all the
steps
of the wizard. This wizard will restore all Exchange settings to
default
to
avoid any problems caused by incorrect configurations.

A. Click Start on your SBS server, click Server Management.

B. Click To Do List and then click "Connect to the Internet".

C. Click Next, select connection type and click Next.

D. Select Enable firewall and click Next. Ensure E-mail is selected
and
Click Next.

E. Click Next, go through the steps until the Web Services
Configuration
page shows, make sure that "Outlook Web Access" is selected.

F. Go through the steps until the Web Server Certificate page shows.
Select
"Create a new Web server certificate", and type your FQDN
(mail.domain.com)
in the "Web server name" text box.

G. Go through the steps until the Internet E-mail page shows, select
"Enable Internet e-mail" and click Next.

H. Select either "Use DNS to route e-mail" or "Forward all e-mail to
e-mail
server at your ISP". If you select the latter, enter the ISP SMTP
server.
Click Next.

I. Specify to receive e-mail using one or both of the following
methods:

- POP3 Mailboxes
- Exchange

Click Next.

J. Enter your e-mail domain name and click Next.

K. Go through the steps to finish the wizard.

For your information, the following article can help you configure
the
internet connection

Server
2003

And if the additional hardware router is installed in front of your
SBS
server, the appropriate port should be forwarded. In this scenario,
at
least port 443 is necessary. For your information, the following
article
contains the general ports which are needed in SBS 2k3

Securing Your Windows Small Business Server 2003 Network

To troubleshoot the current issue, I think we should first narrow
down
this
problem by accessing the OWA inside your SBS network by
http://ServerName/Exchange. Since we can successfully use the OWA
inside
your SBS network, it seems the problem is located at the network
connectivity. You can just use the following command to test the
connectivity from your workstation on the internet to your SBS
server.

Telnet [your public static IP address] 443

If the command complete successfully, you will see the window turn
black.

The detailed network diagram of the SBS network. How many NIC are
installed
on the SBS server (I assume there are two NICs)?
Is there any hardware firewall installed in front of the SBS
server?

When you ran CEICW, did you input the public IP address or the
registered
FQDN in certificate configuration window?

Hope this helps, I appreciate your time and look forward to your
update.

Have a nice day!
