I will try to guide you, but I'm actually using a french version of SBS2003.
- Open Exchange System Manager -> Global Parameters -> Internet messages
format
- Right-clic on Default, then Properties.
- Go to tthe 'Advanced Parameters' tab

- Check the box: 'Allow out of office responses'
I also personally checked 'Allow automatic replies' and 'Allow automatic
forward' becaus it's necessary when you want to forward messages
automatically to an external contact.
