RE: Configure Remote Access Post SBS 2K3 SP1

I was very anal about these Service Packs and downloaded each piece like it
was nitro, then followed the Microsoft handling instructions like my life
depended on it.
I did install all of the pieces - step by step according to the instructions
for Microsoft SBS 2003 Standard. This makes all the more frustrating.
Additionally, since applying the service packs - monitoring has stopped
collecting data.
Again, this was a completely new install using the customers media, then
downloading all of the service packs and installing them.

Hi Jack,.
Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.
From the description, I understand the issue to be: you get error 80070001
in RRAS log. If I have misunderstood your concerns, please do not hesitate
to let me know.
As I know, before installing the SBS 2003 SP1 onto the server, we need to
make sure that the required components such as Windows server 2003 SP1,
Exchange 2003 SP1, WSS SP1 have been installed. Please refer to the release
note and double check the install procedure:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=022677CC-F5AC-4BFB-
9AD0-454E89CB98BB&displaylang=en
Would you please help me confirm if you have strictly followed the document
to install SBS SP1?
For SBS 2003 Standard:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/e/9/2e902d14-da2e-43ba-8bd6-6d258f5
356b6/SP1Setup_std.htm
If you only install Windows Server 2003 SP1, the issue may occur. Please
try to remove Windows Server 2003 SP1 to see how thing goes.
Also you can check if you have opened the following ports on your router:
TCP 25 This port is used for incoming SMTP traffic. If you are using POP3
connector, there is no need to open this port.
TCP 110 This port is used for POP3 mail clients.
TCP 443 SSL
TCP 444 Companyweb SSL
TCP 4125 Remote Web Workplace
TCP 3389 Terminal services
TCP 1723 PPTP VPN connection
GRE port (protocol number 47) This port is used for incoming PPTP VPN
connection.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Crina Li (MSFT)
