Re: Best Pratice for web site

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi J,

Did you create that remote website yourself? Can you please disable that, as
that is done by the default website already?

I am not sure what you are asking for. If you are refering to the sites
listed underWEB Sites in IIS they are "Default", "MS SharePoint
Administrator", "Share Point Centeral Administration", "companyweb",
"Remote". the only one that has a host header value is "companyweb" which
is
"companyweb", the ip's are: on the 2 share point sites "All unassigned",
for
"defaul"t and "companyweb" and "remote" ip is 192.168.16.2. ports are
"default" 80 and 443. "MS SharePoint Admin" is 4599, "Sahre PointCenteral
Admin" 8081, "companyweb" is 80 and 444, and finally "Remote" is 4125 and
443. in status all sites are blank except "Remote" and it has "Cannoit
create
a file when that file already exists." Again thank you for all your
assistance.

May God Bless you all

Cris,
Thank you for your response. I am trying to learn all I can about
SBS2k3
even tricky things like web hosting. The major problems I am having
are
that
RWW and OWA are not working from outside, they are working from the
inside.
Here is the IPConfig /all from the server:

The Remote Web site under the "Web sites" in IIS MMC shows it is
stopped
and
when I try to start it IIS tells me "IIS is unable to start the site.
Another
site may already be using the port you configured forthis site. Please
select
a unused port for this site." Having the site hosted by an outside
source
is
not an option at this time. We tried it once and got messed over
pretty
badly. I can't go into the particulars about it, lets just say that it
was
NASTY. Owner says learn to do it here so WE control it. Thanks for
your
assistance I really appreciate it. If there is any more info you need
please
lket me know.

The best, most secure practice for hosting websites for small

Since you apparently don't have a great deal of experience in
hosting
websites and the security required to securely host it and still protect
your sensitive company information, this is the best option.

SBS will not be happy with more than two nics...if you want a
separate
machine, not part of the domain and outside your actual lan, np. Fire
it up
and put your website there.

What kinds of problems are you haveing with OWA and RWW?
consider posting the IPconfig output from your server

I have a question. My set up is SBS2k3 sp1 Premium fully patched.
ISA2k4,
Exchange so on. 2 nics one facing external the other facing
internal.
netgear
router, a Company internet web site hosted on an internal machine
on
the
network. I am relooking at my setup due to all the problems I have
been
having. Many of the virtual labs as well as the on demand webcasts
have the
web server on a permiter network. 3 nics on the ISA server.
Question:
Is this
the best practice for this and does it make getting RWW and OWA
easier
to set
up and get working? I appreciate any assistance on this matter.
God Bless
