RE: Not connecting to server or desktop throught RWW

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

Can I conform that you can not setup the second connection to the SBS
server or desktop through RWW site?

Based on my knowledge, in Windows XP professional, you could active only
one user session at one time. In other word, if you terminal to one XP
workstation console, the user who are using the computer will be logoff.
You can test it using Remote Desktop Connection.

As you known, On a Microsoft SBS 2003-based computer, Terminal Services is
configured by using the Remote Desktop for Administration mode. There are
two remote access sessions can be setup for the SBS server runs on a domain
controller, and if you run Terminal Server on a domain controller, you may
risk the safety of the server and the safety of your organization's
sensitive data. At one time there are only two RDP connections are setup
and user must belong to Administrator group or Power User group. And the
connection you setup in RWW site also based on terminal services
technology. When a connection request is launched, the SBS server forwards
the connection to the internal Remote Desktop client or itself as a Remote
Desktop client. So the total number of the RWW connection and RDP
connection to the SBS server box can not exceed two.

From your description, I understand that you just can setup one connection
to the SBS server. I suggest that you check what the maximum number
configured in your terminal services configuration console. The steps:

1. Open Terminal Services Configuration console, navigate the node
Connections, right click the item RDP-Tcp in the right panel to open its
Properties page.

2. Under Network Adapter tab, what is the Maximum Connection number? It
should be 2. If not, you can change it back to 2 and also you can not set
the number exceed 2.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information to
isolate the issue:

1. What is the exact error message you received when you try to setup the
second connections to the SBS server box? And also please capture a screen
shot of the error message and send to me. My working mailbox:
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

2. Please logon one LAN computer and setup connections to the SBS server
using RDP, can you setup the second terminal services sessions? If not,
what is the exact error message you received?

3. Have you installed ISA on the server? What is the version?

Hope above information helps. I am happy to be of assistance to you and
look forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

What happens when you try to connect with the second user?

I have a SBS I connect to through remote workspace.

When I have one connection to a server or desktop I connect fine but
when I
try to make the second connection to a server or desktop (as a different
user) I can.

I looked at my terminal services and it is in Remote desktop admin mode
(I
should still get two conections)

Is there something special I need to do?

I have also have the port (4125) forwarded to the server only. This is
because I can't do multiple computers on the router with the same port.
I get
a port over lap error (Linksys wireless router)

Thanks
