RE: Remote Access

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Thanks for all your help.

I ran the Internet Connection Wizard in the to-do list, it would seem that
some settings were a bit iffy and have now been fixed.

Many Thanks

Chris

I am having the same problem. I can access all computers internally but
from
the WAN (internet outside) I get the message "REMOTE CONNECTIONS MAY NOT
BE
ENABLE OF THE COMPUTER MIGHT BE TO BUSY TO ACCEPT NEW CONNECTIONS. IT IS
ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THE NETWORK PROBLEMS ARE PREVENTING YOUR CONNECTION"

I have ll of th eports open, specifically 4125, 3389,444, 1789, 80, 443,
1723, 21, and 22 among a few others. My server internal IP is
192.168.2.110.
I checked and mispelled the IP from .100 (router IP) to the proper IP of
.110 on port 4125 but I still can not access the RWW clients or server
from
the internet.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your update.

From your description, I understand the issue to be: you failed to
connect
to the server or client workstations in LAN through RWW site or remote
desktop connection.

Let us first re-run CEICW to refresh the network connection and then
test
to see if it helps. You can refer to the following steps:

1. Expand Standard Management | To Do List.
2. Click Connect to the Internet in the right pane.
3. Navigate the wizard to Firewall and then select Enable firewall. In
the
next page, check items (such as Terminal services) you want to publish
internet in services configuration page.
4. Click Next and then select Allow access to the following web site
services from the internet.
5. Make sure "Remote Web Workspace" and "OWA" be selected and click
Next.
6. Following the wizard to finish it.

I suggest you take a look at the KB 825763 to configure the network
connection:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business
Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

If you have installed router or hardware firewall outside the SBS 2003
network, please double check to make sure the TCP port 80, 443, 444,
4125,
3389 is opened on your router or hardware firewall.

Then please test to see if the issue resolved.

Also please check the RWW site settings:

1. Open IIS snap-in.
2. Go to Default Web Site/Remote.
3. Right click Remote and click Properties.
4. Click Directory Security tab.
5. Click Edit under "Authentication and access control".
6. Make sure that the "Enable anonymous access" and "Integrated Windows
Authentication" have been checked.
7. Click Edit under "IP address and domain name restriction".
8. Make sure that "Granted access" has been selected.
9. Click Edit under "Secure communications".
10. Make sure that "Require secure channel (SSL)" is not selected.

For RWW, please also check the following settings:

1. Open ADU&C.
2. Go to Domain.local/MyBusiness/Users/SBSUsers.
3. In the right pane, right click the problematic user and click
Properties.
4. Click Member Of tab.
5. Make sure that the "Remote Web Workplace Users" group is in the list.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information
to
isolate the issue:

1. What is the exact error message you received when you try to connect
to
the server or client workstation in LAN through RWW site? Please help
me
collect a screen shot of the error message.

2. What is the exact error message you received when you directly RDP
from
internet to the LAN computers? Please help me collect a screen shot of
the
error message.

3. Please directly connect a laptop to the SBS external network adapter
to
test, what is the result? If you have router installed outside the
network,
please try to connect the laptop to the router to test, what is the
result?
In this way, we can isolate if the issue locates on the SBS side or
internet computer side. Also you can try to logon the RWW site from
different internet places to test the issue.

4. Please help me collect the IIS log as follows:

1). Stop the Default Website and rename the existing IIS log files
under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles (In this way, we can get the latest log
file
regarding to the issue).
2). Restart the Default Website and try to logon OMA and Server
Activesync
to reproduce the problem.
3). Wait about 15 minutes, then go to the following folder:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles and send them to me.

Note: please let me know your SBS server IP address, the IP address of
the
internet computer.

Please compress all files and send to my working mailbox:
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I appreciate your time.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu
