RE: Http 403.6 error

Steven,

I think the problem has been resolved. What I did is to configure the
internet again but unchecked all the websites and went through the process as
normal.
Then I rebooted the server. Went back and reconfigured the internet and
email and thru the process I kept all the steps the same but checked all the
websites but the business website (it was that way before). The uninstall
and reinstall worked or so I believe since I have not received any complains
on the matter for today.

Hi McNally,

Thanks for posting here.

From your post, my understanding on this issue is: when the user accesses
the web site via VPN connection, he receives the HTTP Error 403.6. If I am
off base, please feel free to let me know.

Based on my knowledge, I suggest you refer to the follow steps to check the
IP address restriction in IIS:

1. Open IIS snap-in.
2. Go to Web Sites/<Web site name>. (If it is a virtual directory, please
go to the virtual directory)
3. Right click the new web site and click Properties.
4. Click Directory Security tab.
5. Click Edit under "IP address and domain name restrictions".
6. Choose the "Grant Access" radio box.
7. Click OKs to confirm the change.
8. Run iisreset command.

Then test whether the problem persists. If yes, please help to gather the
following information so that we can narrow down the problem:

1. Which web path you attempted to access when you got the error message?

2. Access the path from the internal network. Will the issue be reproduced?
Please also perform a test from the server local. What's the result?

3. Use the metabase explorer to export the metabase info:

a. Install .NET Framework Version 1.1:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-
8157-034d1e7cf3a3&DisplayLang=en

b. Install MBExplorer by installing IIS 6 Resource Kit Tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-
B628-ADE629C89499&displaylang=en.

c. Once it is installed, access it from Start, Programs, IIS Resources,
Metabase Explorer.

d. In the left pane, right click 'LM' (under your server computer name) to
choose 'Export to file', and then save it as IIS.mbk.

e. Compress this mbk file and send it to my work address:
v-stezhu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for analysis.

I appreciate you taking time to perform the tests. If you have any
questions or concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Steven Zhu
