Re: Problem with the keypad after utilizing RWW

We also ran into this problem with our ThinkPad laptops and RWW. RWW occasionally toggles the Numlock on the laptop's keyboard. I have not been able to figure out what triggers the toggle. This happens rarely but is very disconcerting when it happens. Also, I use the Microsoft "English - International" layout in which some keys must behave as "dead keys" to type accents, but that does not work in RWW. Oh well...

Hi,

I don't know what happens to my laptop. There is something wrong with the
keypad. The key i type doesn't match with that on the screen.
For example: when i type 'k', it comes out '5'. Some are mixed up, not all.
What i happen was i tried to get a feel of what the RWW is like. so i left
alone my laptop which was logged on to the server. Then, i use the other
computer to connect to it via RWW. It worked fantastic. But then, after
closing the windows and shut down the computer, i came back to my laptop,
re-logged on and i got this problem. This happens if i log on to the server
because i tried to log in to my computer locally, everything's all right.
nothing wrong with the keypad.

The NumLock status got changed to on.

Laptops generally provide a numeric keypad by borrowing some of the regular keys (usually 7, 8 & 9 double up as themselves, UIO become 456, JKL become 123 and M[,]. become 0. but the exact layout varies from laptop manufacturer to manufacturer)

Of course, this means you can't type the borrowed letters at the same time.

The solution is to hit NumLock (which might be a Fn+<something> combination) and toggle the NumLock status back to off.
