Re: WSUS

Well, I think this is progress for you, Bryan. With 5 showing up then we can
concentrate on the client side of things.

Were these 5 getting GPO's or did it "take" from the registry setting?

Sounds a little like the clients aren't locating the WSUS server and
probably aren't finding the Domain Controller for group policy either. Do an
ipconfig/all from one or two of the workstations and post back here.

Dave and KJ

The I have restarted the computers about 4 times.

I have run gpudate /force on all the computers may times and wuauclt
/detect now.

I manually updated the registry on 10 machines using
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/1fd5b3be-ca29-43d0-b5e2-8a65192d5b781033.mspx?mfr=true
Guide lines.

It has been almost 24 hours and 5 of the machines are showing up and the
other 5 are not.

I am also seeing that my gpo are not updating on some of my machines.

If I try and manage the computers from server manager on the SBS Server I
get the "Win32: RPC Server is unavailable." message.

Also the machines that are not showing up are running very slow, but in
the Event logs there is now errors showing up on the machines or server.

I have tried everything .

Please help

Bryan

Dont know if it will help, but when I installed WSUS none of my PC's
showed
up in the computers section of WSUS.
I was instructed to make sure DNS for the server was pointing to itself,
it
was not, when I changed it "VOILA!!"
computers showed up in the WSUS admin util.

I have a SBS 2003 Prem edition with sp1 and current on all updates. I
installed WSUS on the server per microsoft Getting Started and
SmallBizServer.net. The install went fine no problem logged.

I set up the GPO as recomeneded.

Set up computer groups.

No computer or server on my network is showing in the WSUS admin.

If I run the wsus client diagnostic tool on the sbs machine I get the
following error:

Cheching for admin rights to run tool . . . Fail
CheckUserLevel() Failed with hr=0x80070005
Access is denied
This is the main Administrator account so it should have all the
privilages
it needs.

On a XP Pro SP2 workstaion if I run the client tool I get the
following:

AU Does not have Policy Set
UseWuServer is disabled . . . . . . Fail

In the logs I get
WARNING: WU client failed Searching for update with error 0x80072ee2

What is the problem and how can I fix it?

-Thanks for the Help
