Restore SBS 2000 Exchange Database to SBS 2003 Exchange Server
Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry
I had not seen any info on this when I did several google and MS
search.
If you need to restore exchange databases from your SBS 2000 server to
your new SBS 2003 server it is very easy
Before you take down the old server make sure you know the internal
domain name and the old exchange org name, if you do not set these back
to the same names you will have issues mounting the databases and you
will have to use the legacyDn tool to resolve this.
If you need to mount your SBS 2000 Exchange databases in your new SBS
2003 server do the following
Backup the MDBDATA folder on your old SBS 2000 server
Install your new SBS 2003 server
Stop the Exchange System Attendant Service
Delete the contents of the MDBDATA dir on your new install
Copy the 4 primary Exchange MDB's back over to the MDBDATA folder
Open Exchange ESM, go to the properties of both teh priv and the pub
database, then database tab, check the box to allow restore to
overwrite
Start the Exchange Information store service
Your databases should mount normally
You can now recreate your user accounts and reattach them to the newly
created user accounts
