Look in your mdbdata folder. If you are not doing an exchange aware typethose
backup you will have tons of log files.
So Start>run>NTBACKUP clcik okay run whatever
Then backup the microsoft exchange to disc or tape somewhere to flush
log files.private
When you move the mdbdata folder to the new box you have to set the
and public store ticks that database may be overwritten with a restoremessage
I am hoping all goes well also :)

Thanks for the info, When you say "online backup" I use tapeware, and
exchange is shutdown during backup, the entire directory is backed up to
tape will this suffice?
i only have 5 users, and I set up enverything exactly as the original
server, so i am hoping it all goes well.
Thanks again for the info.

Do an online backup of exchange to somewhere tape or disc to flush thelogs.
Dis mount the stores and copy the mdbdata folder from the old box to
thenew
box. Must have the same names everywhere and data locations must be

But I have a feeling all this is not going to match and you are looking

Last but not least, we had the Exchange Fork-Lift and data migration.
moveorder to leave the previous SBS server exactly intact, we decided to
Wethe data through other means than the network, that being a USB disk.
itcopied the MDBDATA folder from the old server to the USB disk in 10minutes,
then there must have been only USB 1.0 on the new server (odd yes) but
havetook upwards of an hour!!! Once that was done, we copied the files overand
the mount failed!!!.
Luckily, reading Jeff's documentation we realized that we needed to
thethe
databases and log files in exactly the same position as they were on
old
production server. Fixing this the store mounted immediately.Exchange

SBS. Is there any info how to do this?
If you use the same netbios and domain name you can forklift the
Stores to your new server.
