RE: Sharepoint upload question

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi,

Thanks for using the SBS newsgroup.

From your description, I understand that you have problem to web sharing
some files on companyweb. If I am off base, please don't hesitate to let me
know.

When we open one folder's Properties page, under Web sharing tab, by
default, it first will show the status that the folder is sharing on
"Default Web site". You can choose the companyweb item in dropdown list and
then you can see the alias of the folder shared on companyweb. In doing so,
you enabled webdev to make the folder can be accessed using http. To share
folder in companyweb, you need also add the path to exclude path in
Sharepoint Central Administration to pass the ISAPI filters. You can do as
follows:

1. Open the Sharepoint Central Administration site (Start -> Programs ->
Administrative tools -> Sharepoint Central Administration).

2. Under virtual server configuration, please select extend or upgrade
virtual server. and click companyweb under Virtual server list to go to
companyweb VD configuration page.

3. Under virtual server configuration, please select define managed paths
and enter the name of the folder and choose Excluded path type under add a
new path.

However the method is very insecure since these folders are saved in
metabase. It will increase your network resources security risk.

From your description, I understand that you want to upload files to
companyweb so that domain users can access them.

To do so you can directly open companyweb site, create document library as
you needs and then upload the files to the library.

Hope above information helps. Please let me know if you have further
question on the issue. I am happy to be of assistance to you and look
forward to your reply.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

I have a folder that I want to give access to. When I right click on the
folder go to properties and go to web sharing i have the ability to select
companyweb. I select the share this folder and hit Companyweb and hit
OK.
When i go back into the folder properties it changes it to Default Web
site.
I was wondering if that is ok? and second how do I give users access to
this
folder and the files in it now?
