Re: My Documents redirect stopped working on one user profile.

When I run resultant set of group policies It gives an error

"The latest versions of the ADM files below are not available this can be
due to insufficient permissions or unavailable network resources"

wuau.adm

It puts a red cross against the user.

The registry setting that you refer to is incorrect but when I manually
update it it reverts back again at the next login.

So I'm guessing that My Documents redirection Group Policy is not getting
applied. I re-ran the My Documents redirection Wizard in the SBS Console in
the hope that it would reset the necessary permissions but that did not
help.

What I also can't really understand is why this should start to happen. It's
not a new user or new machine. Yesterday and the last two years it worked.
Today it doesn't.

Hi,

When something is disabled (dimmed) usually means the some group policy is
applied. To see which policy is applied run the mmc console and add
Resultant Set of Policy or run gpresult from cmd (I prefer the first one).

There is also a registry setting for folder redirection. Check the
following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

Gpupdate probably did not help because the local policy is applied last.
What happens if some other logs on to this machine?

Anton Pegan

I had a call from a user on a SBS network this morning to say he couldn't
see his documents in My Documents.

When I login using his profile and right-click his My Documents folder it
is showing as being directed to c:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\My Documents This can't be edited.

All other users are being directed to the shared users folder My
Documents redirect as set in the server. This user is a member of the
same groups as the others. Nothing as far as I am aware has been changed
on the server or the client.

I've tried gpupdate but that makes no difference.
