Re: port 4125

Hi Carl,

Thanks for your information. I appreciate your time.

The error message indeed indicates that there is some process use the port
4125 when the issue happens.

What is your meaning of the sentence "Sorry this is so brief. We have
another client to work on this morning"? Do you mean there is a client can
logon remotely without problem through RWW site?

Let us perform the following test to isolate the issue:

1. Do you have any customized web sites running on IIS server? If yes,
please disable them and run command "iisreset" (no quotation marks) to
reset IIS server. then please try to logon to SBS server box to test the
issue, what is the result?

2. Please perform a clean boot on the SBS server box to see if it helps.

A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that
are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with other device
drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.

1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer and check whether the problem still persists.

If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to
one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG tool
again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.

3. If the issue persists, please add the registry keys to exclude TCP port
4125 from the ports available to the Remote Procedure Call service. To do
so:

Important: Please backup your Registry Editor lists first so that any
unexpected thing happens, you can restore.

A. On the SBS server, open Regedit.
B. Add the registry key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Rpc\Internet".
C. To this key, add the following values:

Ports REG_MULTI_SZ 4125
PortsInternetAvailable REG_SZ N
UseInternetPorts REG_SZ Y

D. Exit Regedit, restart the server and see if the issue persists.

I am glad to be assistance of you.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

Jenny,

1. I attached a screenshot of the error message I receive.

2. The error message screen shot I attached was taken on the server.
This is the same error message we receive on ANY pc on the network, and
the same error message received when using a pc outside of the network.

3. We can use RDP.

4. No new apps have been installed on the server within the last 2
months.

5. ISA Server has not been installed.

Sorry this is so brief. We have another client to work on this
morning.
Thanks for your response.

Carl
