WOW - Thank you very much for this valuable info! Is there a way for the
DAT72 to be recognized by the SBS Wizard?

Frank, I don't know yet.

I'll be figuring out how to make that internal SCSI drive recognized later
today. I am sure I can come up with a registry hack to make it work if
necessary. I've been away from posting in mpws.sbs for a bit because we are
quite swamped and I had no time to donate.

This info is the result of 31.5 continuous hours of work and there is still
some minor stuff left to do. I am really upset that BackupExec doesn't
backup system folders that may contain older copies of the registry and
considers that acceptable. This forces us to rely solely on the System State
backup and leaves us with no other options. If we are contacted with an
emergency, we never leave until the business is no longer in an emergency
mode as a matter of policy, and in this case that's what it took. About 20
of those hours were ultimately lost to a wild goose chase to restore the AD.
I can't call that time wasted, since it would be unfair to the wonderful
people who helped us from Microsoft and we learned a lot about the variables
involved, but in the end that effort was irrelevant. Restoring a company
without a good backup back to normal operations in under 12 hours after the
wasted time is discarded is not too terrible, considering that an awful lot
of things got reconfigured to best practices standards. I then got about 16
hours of sleep next day though. Since it's not the customer's fault, we
substantially discounted the invoice to be more in-line with our original
estimate on the worst case scenario. I figured others should know not to
waste time if things go wrong after a BackupExec system state restore after
they try a couple of things.
