Though there may be some advantages to the sbsmigration process mentioned by
Frank it is, in this scenario less necessary than if your eventual aim was
to decommission the W2K box.
A key point Frank raises is whether the existing network is running as a
domain or workgroup.
Either way there is no need to disconnect the existing server for any
period. If you are running as a workgroup you simply install SBS in the
standard manner and join everything else to the SBS domain . If you are
running AD already then:

I will though 2nd Frank's suggestion that you first count on installing SBS
no less than three times before putting it into production. The 1st is to
watch a 'standard' install, familiarise yourself with how everything works.
The 2nd is to try customisations, come back here suggesting what you've
changed and what else might be changed. 3rd is to lock down your changes and
document them.

As soon as it arrives,we are going to install a new SBS2003 server in
place of a Win2000 server. The way we intend to do this is to completely
disconnect the old server from the network, then install the new server
After that, we want to copy all the data files from the old server over to
the SBS2003 server, and use the Win 2000 server box strictly for data
files backup. Since I haven't connected a second server to a network
before, are there any issues I need to watch for?
Thanks. Leon
