Re: OWA access to another person's calendar as read only

Ben,
I like you idea of using free/busy, however, this would not give the ans
svc. the ability to see the appts, only whether my client is free or busy,
correct?

I was willing to give the ans svc both and AD acct and exchange acct but I
did not see a way in OWA to always open another user's mailbox/calendar. Do
you know of a way to do this?

Thanks,
Richard

Aloha Richard,

Not really. You can try and kludge something in OWA but you'd have to give
the Answering Service an account in your AD and *MAYBE* an Exchange mailbox.
I've never tried to give an outside party Create and Read but not Change
or Delete permissions to a single folder in OWA before and I have no idea
how or if it would work.

Wouldn't it be easier (and probably better) to just use Internet Free/Busy
so that the answering service could see his calendar and then let them send
him meeting request items that he could accept as he receives them? That
way he gets notified of all of his new appointments and you don't have to
lash together a solution that may turn out to be a security issue for you.

Ben,
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for an Exchange centric solution
rather
than a non-integrated solution. Any other ideas?

There are a number of different possible solutions, including a
number of web solutions like Internet Free/Busy.

I am trying to figure out how I may be able to give my client the
ability to open up his calendar to another user with limited
permissions. They would like to be able to have this outside user
add appts to my client's calendar but not make changes. I
understand how to set these permissions and have Outlook open
another users mailbox by default. But the real question here is how
can I do this in OWA?

My client has SBS 2003 standard.

The scenario here is that my client has an ans. service who needs
remote access to my client's calendar. I thought of providing them
with VPN access, but I was hoping not to have to do this.

Any Ideas?
Thanks.
