Hi Wayne,
2.0 to 3.0 was relatively painless. Took ages for the Security Settings to
load the first time... I thought I was going to have some fun
troubleshooting this but after initial load it is a lot quicker. Also took
me a while to find out how to upgrade ScanMail but this went OK too. Had to
re-define all the directory and file exclusions. All in all a better, more
intuitive interface.
Cheers,
Bill

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for your feedback, especially regarding the 2.0 to 3.0 upgrade. I
will give this a try on my test server and see how it goes.
Cheers,
Bill

Hi Bill,
I have been using 3.0 since it came out. Newest version includes Service
Pack 1 which fixed some issues.
I have had no problems with it. I like the fact that end users have to
deal with their own SPAM. In all my installations I also use the Exchange
IMF and block anything above SCL8 at the gateway.
The only issue I have had is with upgrading from 2.0. My suggestion,
backup any custom whitelist or blacklist, disconnect DSL or Cable Modem,
then uninstall "emanager" and "scanmail" first before proceeding with
the update. Once update is finished you can import custom whitelist and
blacklist back into the application.
Also there may be an issue with the "sender" of Reports. You need to
edit ofscan.ini after making a copy.
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\ofscan.ini
[REPORT_NOTIFICATION]
Notify_Subject=Security Server Report
Notify_Sender=Administrator<edit this line to TMCSMS@xxxxxxxxxxxx or
something similar)
Reboot or restart Trend Micro Master Service

Sincerely,
Wayne Kent

Sorry if I have missed anything, but a few months ago when I was
building a new SBS 2003 server I was warned off installing version 3.0
because of severe issues. Have these been resolved yet?
