Karan,

We use a Cisco 1721 router, tried a different router from a friend (Cisco
2800) and exact results were noted...again, this problem just "appeared" out
of the blue a few months ago...users were just tolerating it for awhile but
now it is a real pain. IMHO, this smells of a Microsoft update issue that is
crashing the service.

Hi,

Do you have any router or firewall beyond the SBS. If yes then try and
replace it and then check for the testing purposes.

...nothing to report...still sporadic dropouts from 50 seconds to 29
minutes
and I have changed every timeout I can find in RAS as well as the Remote
Access Policy and the timeout settings on the connection manager. I see
several other posts that are experiencing the same issue as well. This
wasn't happening a few months ago, but now has shown it's ugly head.
Seems
to me that an update provided by microsoft is probably the culprit, now if
they can figure out which one and fix it...question is will they???

I have looked in the windir/tracer logs and I see the router.log file
shows
several issues of the pptp port changing status from 2 to 5, 1 to 3, and 2
to
4...not sure what that means either.

Cris,

I couldn't really read your post...but I gathered to do a KB search on
technet...not much there that relates to my problem. Closest thing is
for
demand dial...which isn't my problem. I'll keep poking around to see if
I
can find a reason.
