Re: sending mail not leaving local server

i am so tired :-)

I've poked around a bit and have found an article that seems to fit
what i'm experiencing, but I am always afraid to make changes in
Exchange since SBS is a Wizard Based OS and i've read many times to do
things using the Wizard! But, i can't use the CEICW wizard since i'm
using the popBeamer now and one of the questions is about using MS
Connector or SMTP (which i'm doing neither) and i can't get past it...

The article i'm looking at it this:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319759

it would seem like this would fix my issue, but then i got to thinking
about it -- i have 2 domains in the Default Policy -- one of them is
the main one (@domainNew) that is being blocked from going through our
external host, and the other one (@domainOld) is our old domain name.
It seems like the instructions have you do some trickery to uncheck
the box "This Exchange Organization is responsible for all mail
delivery to this address." Well, logically that is what i want to
uncheck for the main domain name (@domainNew), but it is greyed
out...if i follow these instructions i believe it would allow me to
make the change, but then i looked at the other domain name
(@domainOld) and noticed that it had the same setting checked BUT we
CAN send to external recipients based on this domain address. So,
having it checked doesn't seem like it is stopping e-mail from leaving
our network...

am i crazy?

I've setup our server to have @domain.com as the new e-mail address in
the CEICW, but we have others in our organization that don't check our
server for this e-mail address - they grab it from the e-mail host in
Arizona. I'm using popbeamer to grab the mail from the host for
everyone here locally, but i don't know if that is what messed things
up (popBeamer)...

here is the problem - when sending to someone outside of our network,
but with the same e-mail domain i get a message:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

user@xxxxxxxxxx 5/2/2006 12:56 AM
There was a SMTP communication problem with the
recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<domain.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 <user@xxxxxxxxxx> No such user
here>

It looks like it isn't leaving the network at all, but is just
stopping and bouncing back right away. I had this setup with another
e-mail address and it worked perfectly (for those inside and outside
our network)...
