Re: HP Power Manager Password

Since I don't use these UPSs, not sure I can tell you more. The manual
seems to indicate that the "network adapter" password only comes into play
if you use the "Configuring a network port UPS" procedure. Since you're
using a serial connection, I'd say that's not your problem.

What about removing the software from Add/Remove Programs and then
reinstalling it?

Hi Merv

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. Now (please excuse my
ignorance) but where would I find the "UPS Network Adapter" ? I'm using a
serial cable on Comm1 to connect to the UPS, just a bit confused here...!
(Nothing new!)
In fact I have read the manual on the CD and I have to confess it's not
helpful, written for the enterprise guys I suspect.

Hi Norm,

I don't use HP servers or UPSs, but does this thing have a password for
the "UPS network adapter" as well as the software (same password for
both)?

HP Power Management 4.0 software manual
-----------------------
Enter the password that is configured in the UPS network adapter in the
Password field. The password is case-sensitive. The default adapter
password
is MustB6.

IMPORTANT: The password you enter must match the password
configured in the UPS network adapter. If you want to change the
password, first configure the adapter with the new password, and then
enter the new password during the Management Server configuration
process. For more information about configuring the adapter, refer to
the HP Power Products CD that came with the adapter.

I'll apologise in advance, this is slightly OT.....

Just installed a new HP ML350 G4 running SBS 2003 Premium with an HP
UPS, Model T1500XR. Well, we accessed the HP Power Manager software with
the set defaults and then decided to set the password to the local admin
p/w. Anyway, that's what we thought we did, but when we next tried to
run the app; it wouldn't let us in!

Searched the HP website & various groups on "How To reset the Power
manager password" but no joy to date. Anyone out there been through
this - love to hear from you!
