Re: Server Sync and OMA Won't work.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for posting back.

I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!

The process will reset all security settings back to default. From your
symptom, we found that some settings have been changed and we can not
figure out one by one. Or some VD is corrupted. We need use the process to
ensure all VDs works fine and configured correctly.

I do understand your concern. You can test the process on one test machine.
And also ensure that you have back the IIS metabase and the whole server
box to avoid any unexpected thing.

Backing Up and Restoring Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sbs/2003/maintain/bkuprstr.mspx

Please book an off-business time to perform the task on the production
server box.

I appreciate your time! Please let me know if you need further assistance
to the issue.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jenny Wu

I am a little concerned about resetting my IIS settings. Will this put all
settings back to default, mainly the OWA which does work. I am sure that I
could get that to work if it was reset, but I have never done that
particular task before.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your update.

I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!

For current situation, let us refer to the KB 883380 article to re-create
the Microsoft Exchange Server-related virtual directories in Internet
Information Services (IIS) to reset the default VD settings.

Please strictly follow the following KB article to process.

883380 How to reset the default virtual directories for Outlook Web Access
in Exchange Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=883380

Then, re-run the CEICW to configure IIS and see if the issue still occurs.
Note that we should select Enable firewall when running the CEICW.

More information:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Then please try to access the OWA site and let me know the result.

If the issue persists, please help me collect IIS metabase, IIS logs and
event log files. Please follow the steps in previous post to collect
information. In that ways, you collect the latest log rather than all log
files. They are not very big. I need log files for further analyze. I
appreciate your time!

Have a nice day!

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your information.

After reviewed the IIS metabase, I found that you have enabled SSL on the
OMA virtual server. It is not supported that we enable SSL on OMA site.
Please refer to below steps to verify:

1. Open IIS snap-in.
2. Go to Default Web Site/exchange-oma.
3. Right click exchange-oma and click Properties.
4. Click Directory Security tab.
5. Click Edit under "Secure communications".
6. Make sure that "Require secure channel (SSL)" is Unchecked.
7. Then please run command "iisreset" (no quotation marks) to reset the
IIS
server, then please try to test the OMA issue and let me know the result.

If the issue persists, please perform a clean boot on the SBS server and
then test the both issues to see if it helps.

A Clean Boot will allow us to isolate any device drivers or programs that
are loading at startup that may be causing a conflict with other device
drivers or programs that are installed in your computer.

1) Run MSCONFIG.EXE.
2) In the Services tab, click "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click
"Disable All".
3) In the Startup tab, click "Disable All". Click OK. (This will
temporarily prevent third-party programs from running automatically
during
start-up.)
4) Restart the computer and check whether the problem still persists.

If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related
to
one application or service we have disabled. You can use the MSCONFIG
tool
again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.

If the issue persists, please help me collect the IIS log as follows:

1). Stop the Default Website and rename the existing IIS log files under
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles (In this way, we can get the latest log file
regarding to the issue).
2). Restart the Default Website and try to logon OMA and Server
Activesync
to reproduce the problem.
3). Wait about 15 minutes, then go to the following folder:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles and send them to me.

Note: please let me know your SBS server IP address, the mobile IP
address
and the exact access time.

Also please help me collect the following information:

1. Please backup your application and system logs first and then clear
all
events in the Event Viewer. Then reproduce the issue and monitor the
server
for some time and mail me the log files.

Note: Please save the log files in .evt file so that I can view the
detail
information.

2. Please help me capture some screen shots when you reproduced the
issues.
I need know the exact error message and symptom in your end.

3. What is your smart phone OS? Is it Windows mobile 5.0 or others? Have
you installed ISA server on the SBS server box?

4. On the SBS server, browse to http://localhost/oma, when you are
prompted
to enter user name and password please use your domainname\administrator,
where domainname is your server's NetBIOS domainname. Does the issue
occur?

Restart IE, go to http://localhost/oma, when you are prompted to enter
user
name and password, please use another user's credential, does the issue
occur?

I appreciate your time! I am happy to be of assistance to you.

Have a nice day!

Hello, sorry for taking so long, but I have some of the information that
you requested. One thing I did want to ask was that in the iis log there
are several folders in the c:\windows\system32\logfiles, I was wondering
are there certain folders or text files that you need because the folder
itself is to big to email, even if it is compressed. I have attached the
other two pieces of information, first the export from the LM node from
the
metabase explorer in the iis resource kit. And the second are the event
viewer files. Thanks again for all your help. Any more information you
can
provide me is greatly appreciated.
