RE: Remote connectivity problems

The problem is that security-enabled website fail to load for the user when
he uses his laptop outside of the company LAN. This problem began to occur
after the laptop was joined to the domain.
Any prompting for logon credentials is expected. The problem is that secure
sites fail to load altogether.

Hi Milton,.
Thanks for your update! I am jenny and I am backup of Crina for she is now
taking leave. I will continue work with you till Crina back. I am sorry for
inconvenience for that.
I have reviewed the thread and I understand that the issue to be: the user
is prompted to input username/password when he accessed some internet web
sites when he brought the laptop outside of the SBS LAN. If I am off base,
please don't hesitate to let me know.
Let us perform the following steps to trouble shoot the issue:
1. Please ensure the user logon the computer locally not the SBS domain.
2. Please do not use web proxy to access internet that is configured in
LAN. Please check the settings like this: IE -> Tools -> Internet options
-> connections -> LAN Setting -> Proxy Server, please do NOT check the
option "use a web proxy for your LAN..").
3. Have you installed ISA client on the laptop? If yes, please disable the
ISA client when users bring the laptop outside the SBS domain.
Then please access the internet web sites to test, and let me know the
result.
If the issue persists, please do the following steps:
1. Open IE, and go to Tools -> Internet Options.
2. Select Delete Files, check "Delete all offline files" and click OK to
confirm that you want to delete the content. Then check if the issue
disappears.
Then please try to test the issue, what is the result?
If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information:
1. Please help me collect a screen shot when the user tries to access web
sites and is required username/password.
2. Does the issue happen when user accesses all internet web sites?
3. Do you have another laptop in SBS domain? If yes, please try to bring
the laptop outside the SBS Lan to test the issue, what is the result.
4. Please run command "ipconfig /all" on the laptop and paste the output
here. Or mail me in message. my working mailbox: v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time!
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

Please, let's not nit-pick over terminology -- the computer was joined to
domain using connectcomputer, but my question is not around joining theorder
domain.
I can't imagine why the user should have to unjoin from the domain in
to access *some* external websites from home. What, specificially, isthe
unjoining the domain designed to remedy? Is this an experiment, a test, a
troubleshooting step or? Are you suggesting that this user should unjoin
domain every day when he goes home and re-join it every morning when heCEICW
returns to work?
Please let me know where we're going with this approach.
Thanks

Hi Milton,
Thanks for your update.
As I know, SBS can not add a client computer to domain using CEICW.
isis for configuring network and Internet access. It will automatically
configure the TCP/IP settings, DNS server, DHCP server, ISA rules, IIS,
certificates etc.
Do you mean the laptop client can not access internet web sites after it
thingnot in the SBS LAN? If so, please try the following steps to see how
correspondinggoes:
1. In laptop, right-click My Computer and then select Properties.
2. In Computer Name tab, click Change and the change the computer from
Domain to Workgroup.
3. Reboot the machine.
4. Log on as a local administrator account and try again.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
